Thalema cooper

Thalema Williams Cooper is a versatile dance educator, choreographer, and studio director with more than 20 years of teaching and training experience throughout the United States and Caribbean. Her extensive background includes Acro/Tumbling, Contemporary, Ballet, Pointe, Modern, Jazz, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre, Stretch & Conditioning, and more, working with dancers of all ages and levels.

Thalema has completed Acrobatic Arts training/certification and has additional specialized training in gymnastics, contortion, and circus arts through Chelsea Piers Gymnastics. Her professional dance training also includes renowned institutions such as Alvin Ailey, Steps on Broadway, Dance New Amsterdam, and Broadway Dance Center in New York City. She has continued her professional development through Dance Teacher Web and the Dance Teacher Summit.

For nearly a decade, Thalema served as Owner and Artistic Director of Thalema Williams Studios in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. Throughout her career, she has taught and directed at dance programs across Maryland, Virginia, New York, Florida, Michigan, and the Caribbean, bringing a wealth of experience in both recreational and competitive dance education.

Thalema is passionate about helping dancers develop strength, flexibility, proper technique, confidence, and artistry in a positive and encouraging environment. Backstage is excited to have her bring her extensive experience and specialized acro training to our dancers!
