Nija McQueen

Nija is a passionate dance educator and lifelong dancer with more than six years of teaching experience. Originally from New Jersey, she began dancing at the age of three and has developed a strong foundation in technique, performance, and artistry through years of dedicated training.

Throughout her dance journey, Nija has had the opportunity to train with and attend intensives presented by prestigious dance companies and organizations, including Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Koresh Dance Company, PHILADANCO!, and American Ballet Theatre. These experiences have contributed to her versatile approach to movement, technique, artistry, and performance.

In addition to teaching, Nija works with local organizations throughout Maryland and the greater DMV to promote dance education and access to the arts. She is passionate about giving back to the community and helping cultivate enriching outreach programs that provide young people with opportunities for movement, creativity, confidence, and artistic expression.

As a YPAD Certified dance educator, Nija is committed to providing a safe, positive, and age-appropriate learning environment. She strives to create classes where dancers feel supported and challenged while developing strong technique, confidence, individuality, and a lasting love for dance.

Nija brings a valuable combination of extensive training, teaching experience, community involvement, and enthusiasm to the Backstage Dance Studio faculty, where she is proud to help inspire and develop the next generation of dancers.
