POINTE.
-
Pre-Pointe and Pointe classes are designed to prepare dancers for the strength, alignment, control, and technique required for safe and successful pointe work.
Pre-Pointe focuses on building the foundational strength needed before a dancer begins working in pointe shoes. Dancers work on proper ballet alignment, core and leg strength, foot and ankle articulation, balance, relevés, stability, and exercises specifically designed to prepare the body for pointe. Dancers remain in ballet shoes during Pre-Pointe unless they have received instructor approval to begin pointe work.
Pointe is an advanced extension of classical ballet training for dancers who have demonstrated the technique, strength, alignment, maturity, and physical readiness necessary to safely work in pointe shoes. Classes focus on proper placement, balance, control, strength, and the gradual development of pointe technique.
Beginning pointe work requires instructor approval. Readiness is determined individually and is based on a dancer’s ballet technique, strength, alignment, consistency, and overall physical preparedness rather than age alone.
