Show Troupe - Team Members Only

The Year Ahead...

Welcome Backstage Show Troupe!

We have designed this section of the website to help keep everyone organized with important dates and other pertinent information. Please keep in mind that this information is NOT to be shared with anyone who is not on the Backstage Dance Studio Show Troupe as noted in the Show Troupe Agreement.

We have a very busy year ahead of us. We have tried to nail down as many dates as we could to better assist in your planning. Please keep in mind that some of the times listed may change, and all changes made will be emailed to the Show Troupe. As most of our correspondence is done through email and we want to be sure that we have everyone listed correctly, please notify us immediately of any and all email address changes.

It's going to be an awesome year!

Convention Schedule 2014-2015

We require that ALL Show Troupe Students take One Full Weekend Convention (2 Day), OR 2 One-Day In-House Conventions. Please note that when you select your convention, it must be approved by the teachers.

We will confirm your selection at a later date.

All NEW Members of Show Troupe will participate in the 2 ONE-DAY IN-HOUSE Conventions which are held at Backstage.

Convention dates are listed below.

All Returning Members of Show Troupe can choose which convention they would like to participate in; however, we will approve all students requests once they are received. The reason we do this is because if we feel that the level of the convention that you selected is too difficult, we might suggest a different convention for you to attend.

Dress Rehearsal 2014 - Bryn Mawr

Every year we have a dress rehearsal for all of our Show Troupe girls to put their dances out on stage before our first competition.
This gets all the nerves and tears out before stage time.

Dress Rehearsal is MANDATORY for all Show Troupe Members.

At the Dress Rehearsal, the girls will perform their dances with their costumes on along with Full Hair and Makeup.

Sunday, January 18, 2015

Dress Rehearsal is held at
Bryn Mawr School
Centennial Hall
Baltimore, MD

From Show Troupe email dated January 12, 2015:

Please make sure you have all of your costume pieces (tights, shoes, earrings, hair pieces, etc.). Do not wait until the last minute to realize you are missing something. All Dancers arrive with full out hair and makeup. You will bring your costumes with you.

9:00-10:30:
All Future Stars, Minis and Pee Wee Lyrical ONLY. Please arrive with full out hair and makeup. Please wear leotard and tights and bring all of your costumes. We will be spacing out a few numbers during this time.

9:45:
All other teams arrive with full out hair and makeup. Please do not arrive much earlier than this.

We will run two complete shows. The order of dances will come this week, and will be posted.

SHOW I
11:00-1:00:
Guests are welcome to watch.

SHOW II
1:30-3:30:
Show II is just a repeat of Show I. We are just doing it again for practice. Guests are welcome to watch.

3:30-5:00:
Please plan on staying for this (Team members and parents only). We will be discussing details on the first competition and other important things. Any dances that need special stage attention will go back on the stage at this time.

A Few reminders-

1. Healthy Snacks - please do not bring cupcakes, candy, etc., for snacks. This is a long day for our dancers and they need to be eating healthy foods for snacks. Sugar does not provide long lasting energy. You will want to bring water as well.

2. This event is mandatory and all team members must attend.

3. If you are late, you will not dance. Give yourself plenty of time to get there. We run our dress rehearsals just like we are at competitions.

4. Please keep talking down to a minimal while in the auditorium.
It is very distracting to have people talking while the staging process is happening.

5. Team jackets are not required for Dress Rehearsal, but you can absolutely wear them. It's a little chilly so you definitely want to have a jacket.

6. You need to always have an extra pair of tights, bobby pins, hair sprays, hair ties, etc. If we send you back to fix your hair, you want to have supplies ready.

7. There is absolutely no food or drink allowed in the auditorium - you can have food in the cafeteria only.

8. Please help clean up when we leave. We need to make sure there is zero trash left by us when we leave.

The dress rehearsal is designed to work all of the kinks out before our first big competition. Its important to understand that girls will forget their dances, there will be a few tears, you will need an extra pair of tights, you might hear your teacher yell, and the dances will have plenty of mistakes. WE KNOW. All of these things will be worked out in time for our first competition.

This is why we have a MANDATORY SHOW TROUPE REHEARSAL WEEKEND ON SATURDAY JAN 24th and 25th. We take the video from the dress rehearsal and we let the girls watch it on our projection screen. We fix all the mistakes and we continue with a normal practice.
